About Mulberry silk

Bombyx Mori Moth

The use of Bombyx Mori moth silk, also known as Mulberry silk, dates back more than 5,000 years to ancient China. According to legend, the Chinese empress Xi Ling Shi discovered silk when a cocoon dropped from a mulberry tree into her tea. As she unravelled the delicate threads, the idea of using silk in clothing production was born. A closely guarded secret, and the Chinese silk trade was highly profitable and launched the Silk Road trade route.

Today, Bombyx Mori silk is still highly prized for its quality and versatility.

Mulberry Silk Benefits Hair and Skin

Mulberry silk can benefit hair and skin in several ways. The smooth and soft texture of silk helps reduce friction between the hair and pillow, preventing hair breakage, tangles, and split ends. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase also helps reduce bedhead and preserve hairstyles.

When it comes to skin, the natural proteins and amino acids in silk help retain moisture and prevent dehydration, especially beneficial for those with dry or sensitive skin. Silk is hypoallergenic and less likely to cause skin irritation or acne compared to other fabrics. The breathable nature of Mulberry silk can help regulate temperature, keeping the skin cool and reducing sweating, preventing clogged pores and breakouts.  Using silk products helps promote healthier and more hydrated hair and skin.
